Afghanistan:

In 120 mosques in Kabul district and in 20 of the largest mosques in Mazar-i-Sharif – including the famous Blue Mosque – this Friday’s prayer speech will focus on the rights of the child. This shares the conventions articles to a large public audience as well as reinforces that Islam and Child Rights can go hand in hand.

Bangladesh:

The Bangladesh office began celebrating the 20th Anniversary in March by organisating a Theatre for Development Festival and Information fair. The office is also launching a study on the Right to Information a Child Rights Fair,Cultural Programme and Photo Exhibition on the life of street and working children and film show on Violence against Children (Photos taken by children on CRC issues; Films made by children ). The office is also supporting the Production of a film by children on CRC and participation for the UNICEF 20 years video contest.

Pakistan:

The 20 to 20 campaign was started last year on November 20, 2008 to advocate at national and provincial level for approval of a Child Protection Bill by November 2009. The Pakistan office will organise a large event to mark the 20th anniversary of CRC and highlight the successes and challenges of the 20 to 20 campaign.

Nepal:

Save the Children Nepal Country Office will commemorate the Convention’s 20th birthday with a mega concert – “Rights Rock”. The concert performances will include Nepal’s most popular artists and musical bands. Rights Rock gives us an opportunity to reflect on the changes the CRC has brought to the children of Nepal and the progress we still need to make.

India:

On the week of the 20th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, Save the Children India state teams and partners conducted a wide variety of innovative advocacy activities with children and communities we are working with to celebrate the Convention and to promote children’s rights and protection across India.
