This book covers six different local consultations and the National Consultation on different issues held in different parts of Afghanistan from 2002 to 2004. Over 800 children met together in groups during this time and talked about their lives and their hopes for the future. The book consists of their messages and pictures from the consultations.
Our Future and Our Rights: A book for Afghan children and young people, Save the Children Sweden and UNICEF, Afghanistan
This book is meant for Afghan children and young people and tells us how children and young people need to be respected, and how they can solve problems. The book is divided into three parts. The first part is about child rights and how Afghan children are working together to make a better future. Similarly the second part of book illustrates the stories by children. These stories were sent to world leaders when they had a special meeting to look at the situation for children worldwide. The third part of book focuses on what happened at the special meeting of world leaders and the promises made by those leader to all children and the goals they set themselves.
Mobilisation for Self-help and Child Rights: Lessons Learned in Afghan Refugee Camps 1983-2002, Save the Children Sweden.
This book reflects the learning process in the Afghan refugee camps in the North West Frontier province of Pakistan between 1983 and 2002. The idea of this book was conceived by Save the Children Sweden as a way of sharing the richness of experience and of the lessons learned. The key issues were drawn up from two participatory workshops with the Social Welfare Cell of the Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees. The publication offers an extension of this learning process, it belongs to all the voices that have spoken through its pages and to the 3 million refugees they represent.
Afghansitan’s Children Speak to the UN Special Session, 19-21 September 2001, Save the Children and Afghanistan Global Movement for Children Working Group
This child friendly book consists of key notes of the speeches that Afghan children made to the UNGASS. It also covers children’s messages on child rights ie. Participation, Survival, Protection and Development. It also comprises key learnings children had through consultation.
