Association for Community Development (ACD)
Association for Community Development (ACD) was founded in 1989. It has been implementing various development projects with a view to bring about qualitative change in the lives of the disadvantaged and vulnerable group of people in the northern part of Bangladesh. Especially it has been in touch with the women, children and adolescent girls. It provides legal rights education, capacity building training, credit, entrepreneurship and appropriate technologies to enhance women’s role as farmers, entrepreneurs, managers and technicians and public awareness in the community.
ACD is working with the partnership of Save the Children Denmark since 1999 in the northwestern part of Bangladesh for boys and girls irrespective of ethnicity and socio-economic backgrounds with particular emphasis on trafficked children, child prostitute, street children and sexually exploited/abused children. On the preventive side they are working with the community with an integrated approach.

The Integrated Community and Industrial Development Initiative INCIDIN – Bangladesh
INCIDIN-Bangladesh has been working as a research and advocacy organization focusing on child labour and trafficking of children since 1994. This organization considers the problem of child labour, child victims of trafficking and both commercial and non-commercial sexual abuse, as one of the most urgent agenda of community development. This organization is making great effort to deal with the problems of trafficking and sexual exploitation of children through psychological counseling, capacity building and networking.
INCIDIN Bangladesh gives special attention towards children, women, indigenous people and other vulnerable social groups and assists and empowers them through awareness programmes, training and income generating programmes and support systems.
Save the Children Sweden Denmark is also funding another project named “Gap Bridging of Non-formal Basic Education and Healthcare Programme for the Child Laborers of the Benarasi Saree Factory in Mirpur, Dhaka”

Bangladesh National Women Lawyer’s Association (BNWLA )
Bangladesh National Women Lawyer’s Association (BNWLA) was formed in 1979 with the objective to improve the legal, social and economic rights of women and children and thereby establishing rule of law and gender equity in the wider society. In pursuing the objective it has worked with women and child victims of prostitution, sexual abuse and trafficking and other forms of violence. Also a wide variety of stakeholders including community, government and perpetrators of sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking is addressed.
The major activities of BNWLA include mass awareness against women and child trafficking, rescue, repatriation and rehabilitation of the victims, providing shelter and legal aid to the victims of violence, conducting training and research on legal rights of women and children, advocacy and lobbying, investigating cases of violence against women and children.
As part of the Save the Children Sweden Denmark intervention they run a safe shelter home where they provide medical, counseling facilities, medical treatment, food, clothing and various vocational training for children who have been abused. This intervention compliments the other projects of BNWLA as it provides hands on knowledge of dealing the issue while access to this type of care structure is important for victims that are handled by other projects.

Breaking the Silence (BTS)
A small professional organization, it started during 1994 under the initiative of Save the Children Sweden. A group of independent individuals gathered in order to combat the child sexual abuse of children. It is engaged in raising awareness of adolescents, parents, teachers and professionals on sexual abuse of children. BTS is also networking and referring children to other organizations for psychosocial, legal and medical support.

Development Initiative for Social Advancement (DISA)
Development Initiative for Social Advancement (DISA) has been established in 1993 by the active cooperation of some committed social workers that have long experience in the field of development and has been working with the disadvantaged children, women and socio-economical development of both urban and rural areas.
The partnership cooperation between Save the Children Sweden Denmark and DISA is excellent. DISA and Save the Children Sweden Denmark have together explored the solutions of various complexities of working with child sexual abuse in the local area. DISA is implementing the project “Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse in High Schools and Community” while focusing on three major areas (a) awareness & advocacy (b) direct support to the abused children & their families and (c) capacity building of teachers, children, youths & parents.

Nari Maitree
Nari Maitree is a development organization. A few professional and enthusiastic women established this organization in 1983 with a view to build the capacity of disadvantaged, vulnerable and poor children, adolescent and women for improving quality of life.
Target beneficiaries of the project are the girls working and living on the streets. Basically the girls on the street are vulnerable. Main reasons of vulnerability are lack of services, access to services, safety and security. The project strategy is guided by Save the Children Sweden Denmark’s Child Rights Programming approach. Through this approach conventions have been transformed into a concrete approach for developing, planning, implementing and managing project with the over all goal of improving the position of the girls working on the street and building a society that acknowledge and respect street girl’s rights.

Sanlaap
Sanlaap was founded in 1987 with the main objective of stopping child prostitution, trafficking and second-generation prostitution. It advocates and lobbies with key stakeholders-the law-makers, law implementing authorities, judiciary, panchayat and the community itself to provide safe spaces for and protection of vulnerable girls and children.
It provides non-formal education, legal support and medical care to children who have been involved in trafficking and sexual abuse through its shelter homes. Vocational training is provided to these young women in the shelter homes. It works directly in brothels by creating special space for HIV positive girls and also has out reach programmes for HIV positive women and girls identified in areas of trafficking.

Coverage: Total number of children 275 who have been trafficked and sexually abused. Moreover, 3000 parents and 1000 police officers and other members of administrative bodies would be sensitized.
