Bangladesh Institute of Theatre Arts (BITA)

Bangladesh Institute of Theatre Arts (BITA) was formed in 1994 by a group of intellectuals and noted development activist who believe in culture as a tool for social change and facilitation. This belief guided them to use cultural approach in development activities and make culture itself an objective for further development. For the last 9 years BITA focused its attention more on using culture as medium in development in putting itself as the pioneer in innovating development process. It promotes social agenda and creates positive changes in the values of the people about social, cultural and human rights issues. Through 7 projects BITA worked for poor and marginalized children, adolescents, women and men in underdeveloped rural and urban communities of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazaar, Noakhali and Chittagong Hill Tracts. BITA’s vision is a society where respect and practice of rights by all is an integral part of life.

Partnership between BITA and Save the Children Denmark started from 1998. In the year 1999 to 2001 BITA completed an MPA project “Child Rights through Cultural Activities”.
